Alec Smail, O.D.

Dr. Alec Smail, O.D. studied at the University of Manchester, the London School of Hygiene and Topical Medicine for his PhD and the New England College of Optometry prior to joining Eye Associates. He was awarded the John Busvine medal and William Feinbloom award for academic excellence. He did research into onchocerciasis, a parasitic infection causing River blindness. He is licensed in the state of Massachusetts and has an interest in primary eye care and contact lenses.

Dr. Smail spent many years living abroad in England, Zambia and Swaziland before moving to Massachusetts. He enjoys traveling (especially to Greece where his wife is from). He has an interest in world affairs, running and playing soccer.
